Yesterday the mule team completed more checks and supply runs on locations that were given for families in need, and met with the local fire department in Black Mountain to ensure they had covered all inaccessible areas that had not been accounted for.
The home team worked to read and reply to as many of the messages that are coming in, searching specifically for the next location to move the mule team to. Their focus has to remain on the inaccessible areas, as there are many other private groups stepping up that can get to the more accessible areas by other means.
Mules are taking a much-needed rest while packers are preparing gear and getting ready for their next area. We appreciate those that specifically sponsored carrots and apples for the mules, and our daughter Faith was happy to make a fun video of them enjoying some treats! We’ll keep loving on them before they head out again late tonight to start bringing more necessities in to families in need!
We appreciate seeing all that are finding ways to use their skills. We do appreciate the offers of volunteers on the trail, and would love to accept all, but please understand we would not be useful to anyone if we had a large pack of people traveling together in these already devastated areas. Sometimes we can barely get the trucks and trailers we need to get our mules in to start locations. and definitely couldn’t accommodate more rigs.
So please know if you have reached out to offer riding along with us, we appreciate you and applaud your offer, but suggest you find another group that can use your skills!
We have to remain focused on the mission we started out with, and that is getting this mule string in to as many inaccessible places possible to help all that we can in their time of need!
I’ll update soon on the next location mules will be heading out to. We are planning a drop-off location for donations for tomorrow!
Another big shopping day today! We formed our own shopping cart mule string in front of Walmart!! So grateful that Karen Darrow, and Shayna Rodgers Howitz have been so essential in helping to prepare for the mule team’s needs, and purchasing supplies for them to deliver! And Faith has been my right-hand person here at the ranch, with so much going on!! Beyond blessed to have a whole support system with such kind and giving hearts!
We will update you on the mule team once they’re on the move! God bless you all and thank you so much for continuing to bless us with your kind words and support!
